Dow Goes Back-to-Back Beats Midland 14-7, Advances to District Final

Midland, Mich - The Dow Chargers (6-4) defeated the Midland Chemics (5-5) 14-7 in the Division Two District One Semifinal Round at Midland Community Stadium. The Chargers won last week 29-9, victorious in both games against the Chemics.


Dow will play the Heritage Hawks next Friday, November 3rd. Sports Radio 100.9 The Mitt will provide live coverage. The High School Football Game of the Week, presented by the Forward Corporation.


Dow’s win was in the 60th all-time matchup and sixth postseason encounter. The Chargers have won two of the six playoff games. It is the first time since 2019, Dow has reached the District Finals.


After a scoreless first quarter, Midland’s Jalen Brown broke off a 54-yard rushing touchdown to make it 7-0 Chemics. Brown was held to 55 total yards, a week ago.


The final drive of the first half for the Chargers reached the Midland 34-yard line. A Dow holding penalty on third down forced a punt.


The Chargers reached the red zone for the first time on their opening drive in the third quarter. Midland’s Noah Wall intercepted a pass in the endzone.


After a Dow defensive stop, the Chargers got the equalizer. An unnecessary roughing penalty aided Dow into the red zone to begin the fourth quarter.


Sophomore Garlands Randolph raced it in from 15 yards out after spinning through contact at the line of scrimmage. A missed extra point kept the Chemics up 7-6.


Midland's next offensive drive was a three-and-out. On third down, senior Tyler Streeter wrapped up Jalen Brown for a three-yard loss.


The next Chargers' offensive drive began at their own 46. Garlands Randolph struck for a second time, shedding two tackles and making it 12-7 on the first play.


Senior Quarterback Jacob Jensen found a wide-open Tyler Streeter for the two-point conversion to increase the lead to 14-7 with 8:35 remaining.


The Chemics had three possessions, the furthest they got was Dow's 46-yard line. Their last play was from there, an incompletion from Quarterback Isaiah Henderson.


The all-time matchup is now Midland 42 wins to Dow’s 18.
