Lumberjacks Level Oilers 55-45, Now 13-4 Overall

Mount Pleasant, Mich. - The Arthur Hill Lumberjacks (13-4) kept the Mount Pleasant Oilers (11-9) off the board in the final 72 seconds solidifying a road 55-45 league win on Tuesday night.

The Oilers trailed by more than two possessions for the bulk of the second half. With 1:12 to go, an Easton Day layup brought him to 20 points, and the deficit to 50-45.


In the next Lumberjacks possession, junior Trey Buford was fouled and made one of two free throws. 


Mount Pleasant senior Logan Borodychuk shot two threes on two separate possessions but couldn't close the gap. Arthur Hill senior Dequavion Terry grabbed two defensive rebounds and finished the game with four made free throws. Terry notably notched all his second-half points in the final minute. 



The game was frenetic from the jump, with the Lumberjacks scoring the first six points, and the Oilers added the next eight. Arthur Hill, up four after the first eight minutes, outscored Mount Pleasant 10-6 in a tightly contested second quarter. 


Sophomore Di'onQuavis Hardy scored 13 points in the first half, guiding the Lumberjacks to a 24-16 halftime lead. 


Arthur Hill was +1 in the third quarter. Junior Easton Day drained seven straight free throws. It kept the Oilers within striking distance, down six entering the fourth quarter. 


The Lumberjacks started the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run. Senior Marque Heard had two, junior Tyler Dorsey hit two layups, and Di'onQuavis Hardy added a made free throw. 


Dorsey's second layup was assisted by senior Lyna Brooks Jr. on a 3-on-2. Brooks scored seven, and six in the second half.

Rounding Things Out

Hardy led the Lumberjacks with 17 and Day with 20 for the Oilers. Those two were the only double-digit scorers. 


Tyler Dorsey delivered eight, and Marque Heard had six. Three Mount Pleasant players had six, seniors Carter Dole and Logan Borodychuk along with junior Carson Sander.
